ReutersPhilippine Navy spokesman Jonathan Zata said on July 29 that these are completely new devices and the Philippine military is studying ways to integrate these devices.
According to Mr. Jonathan Zata, this is a military equipment aid following the aid of about 6,000 rifles, hundreds of sniper rifles, other equipment and ammunition from China to the Philippines last year.
Beijing is said to continue to seek to bring China and the Philippines closer together under Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Military equipment aid is part of that effort. However, so far, Chinese military aid is still relatively small compared to the military aid the United States has provided to its ally the Philippines since the 1950s.
Over the past five years, the US has provided nearly $400 million in military aid to the Philippines, including providing drones, patrol aircraft, ships and assault rifles.
