China actively promotes reopening border gates

According to information on the official WeChat account of China Customs, Director General of the General Administration of Customs Yu Jianhua chaired a meeting of the agency's Party Committee, conveyed the spirit of the Central Economic Work Conference and studied and deployed measures for the customs sector to thoroughly implement.

The conference requested better coordination between epidemic prevention and control and socio-economic development, optimization and adjustment of epidemic prevention measures at border gates, active promotion of orderly reopening of land border gates, close coordination to ensure smooth customs clearance at border gates, facilitating international economic and trade exchanges while maintaining the defense line against epidemic intrusion.

The conference mentioned the key tasks of the Chinese customs sector in the coming time, such as promoting foreign trade to be stable in scale and optimized in structure, building a trade powerhouse, promoting the expansion of exports of advantageous products, implementing many solutions to support enterprises in winning orders, expanding markets, improving competitiveness and added value, continuing to promote the supporting role of exports for the economy; perfecting regular management and supervision measures, supporting the development of new forms of trade such as cross-border e-commerce, establishing overseas warehouses, etc., creating new momentum for foreign trade development; optimizing the border gate business environment, increasing support to remove difficulties for enterprises, doing a good job of serving foreign-invested enterprises and private enterprises, etc.

The conference also called for better coordination between supply-side structural reform and expanding domestic demand, improving market access, expanding imports of advanced technology, key equipment, energy resources, food, animal and plant products, food and cosmetics, etc., serving to ensure domestic supply and stabilize prices, creating effective demand through high-quality supply and promoting consumption upgrading.

The conference also called for better coordination between domestic and international circulation, deepening innovation and replication of customs supervision mechanisms in pilot free trade zones, vigorously promoting the high-quality development of integrated bonded zones, actively promoting the high-quality development of customs cooperation along the “Belt and Road”, and better serving the construction of a new development model.
