Searching for the killer of the whole family at the New Year's Eve party
Police collected a lot of evidence, suspecting the murderer killed the whole family present at the New Year's Eve party.
On February 16 (the first day of Tet), the Ho Chi Minh City Police, People's Procuracy and many other functional forces continued to examine the scene of the massacre of 5 people in the family of Mr. Mai Xuan Chinh (46 years old, from Thanh Hoa) in Binh Tan district.
The 7-meter-wide ground-floor house in alley No. 7 (Binh Hung Hoa ward) has an attic and many bedrooms. This is also the welding workshop of Mr. Chinh and his wife.

His 37-year-old wife’s body was found near the door, with multiple wounds. Mr. Chinh died in the bedroom, with his neck slashed. Their three children, a 13-year-old boy and two girls, aged 11 and 6, died in other bedrooms.
Two knives, suspected to be the murder weapon; many other items; images from security cameras around the area (before, during and after the murder)... were requisitioned by the police.
"Every detail and trace at the scene is being carefully examined. The victim's house has a German Shepherd, so it would be difficult for someone other than an acquaintance to get in and out. It is possible that the perpetrator was also present at the victim's family's New Year's Eve party three days ago," said an investigator.
He refused to say whether Mr. Chinh and his wife's property was missing, but neighbors confirmed that the family truck that was usually parked in front of the yard had been missing for several days.
Meanwhile, a leader of Ho Chi Minh City Police confirmed that "the suspect has been narrowed down" and hundreds of detectives are dividing into many groups to hunt him down.

The crime was discovered around noon yesterday when people smelled the scent of death coming from Mr. Chinh’s house. Breaking down the door, the police found the body of the landlady, next to her was a fierce and violent German Shepherd.
It was not until the mobile police (Canine Team) arrived and drugged the dog that the authorities were able to enter the house and discover the remaining victims.
Mr. Chinh and his wife are well off financially and are considered to live in harmony with their neighbors. Three days ago (27th of Tet), his family held a year-end party to say goodbye to workers returning to their hometowns. However, from the next morning, many friends called to invite Mr. Chinh and his wife to exercise as usual, but no one answered the phone.
The case was investigated by Major General Phan Anh Minh (Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police). The Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) also sent many officers to support the investigation.
