For Nghe An, 2016 was the year of the coldest spell in the last 40 years; there were 16 cold spells, including 4 severe cold spells. In addition, the prolonged hot weather caused widespread drought, almost all small dams, lakes and streams dried up. To minimize damage caused by natural disasters, propaganda work is coordinated by media units in a timely and extensive manner on mass media and grassroots broadcasting systems to help people clearly understand the impacts of climate change on long-term production activities in order to gradually adapt.
Telecommunications companies have ensured communications, consolidated and expanded infrastructure networks to remote areas. Currently, 100% of communes have fiber optic infrastructure ready to serve, and mobile coverage has reached 80%.

Regarding the tasks in 2017, members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention of the Provincial Information and Communications Sector agreed to proactively carry out tasks within their scope of responsibility; regularly coordinate with member units to do a good job of propaganda, be ready to serve natural disaster prevention, search and rescue.
