"There is a football team that is growing rapidly with the goal of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics," NHK television opened its report introducing U23 Vietnam. |
“In that red are the players of the Vietnam U23 football team. In May 2017, for the first timeVietnam present at U20 World Cup. And they will be the generation that goes straight to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics."
NHK TV analyzed that the weakness of Vietnamese players is their small stature, making it difficult to win the ball during matches. The Japanese TV channel cited the 2016 Olympic men's soccer final in Rio de Janeiro between Brazil and Germany as evidence.
The big players of the German team always have an advantage when competing for the ball with the Brazilian players. Therefore, football requires not only technique, but also good physical strength.

Cong Phuong is training hard to contribute more to all levels of the Vietnamese team. |
That is Cong Phuong. “There is one player who is trying to overcome that barrier. He is a “national star”, the top football player in Vietnam”, NHK commented about Cong Phuong.
The 45-minute report not only focuses on the characters of the U23 Vietnam team but also explores the Vietnamese people's love of football, the characteristics of Vietnamese football, and even Vietnamese culture.
"In addition to Japan, there will be three other Asian teams participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and Vietnam's first appearance in this arena is absolutely not a dream," the report concluded.
