Chinese media criticizes US President as "outdated"
Immediately after the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement was signed by 12 member countries on February 4, an editorial in Xinhua News Agency (THX), Beijing's official newspaper, said US President Barack Obama had revealed "arrogant" and "outdated" thinking.
The article said the US president's thinking was "clearly outdated in the current era" when Mr. Obama praised the signing of the TPP by 12 countries as giving the US an advantage over leading economies, namely China.

The newspaper, considered the voice of Beijing, analyzed that with the rise of global challenges such as terrorism, economic instability, climate change and transnational crime, international issues need to be solved through cooperation, rather than the US being "central" and "dictating" on global issues.
The editorial did not forget to mention that "China is now the world's second largest economy and accounts for 30% of global growth" and mentioned that the BRICS group - a group of emerging economies including China, Russia, Brazil, India and South Africa - "has become a strong driving force of economic recovery" in the context of slow recovery of economies in Europe, Japan and developed countries.
With the TPP agreement just signed by 12 countries, the article said "China maintains an open attitude towards TPP" and advised "President Obama should not dismiss China as some kind of imaginary enemy. Instead, he should pay attention to what he has done for the country."
Some international articles commented that TPP has further stirred up existing tensions between Washington and Beijing over issues related to the East Sea. The US has "ignored" China since the beginning of the TPP negotiation process.
Some analysts say Washington wants to contain China's growing influence in the region./.
