According to RIA Novosti, at a hearing at the US Congressional Armed Services Committee on April 11, NATO Commander in Europe Christopher Cavoli said that Russia produces three times more artillery shells than the entire NATO.

"Russia produces more artillery shells than the rest of NATO combined, by a ratio of 3:1," complained General Christopher Cavoli, supreme commander of NATO forces in Europe.

General Cavoli believes that the US should provide Ukraine with more missiles than before. According to him, this is explained by the fact that Kiev depends on US supplies, as the production of artillery shells in European countries does not meet the demand.

According to General Cavoli, at this point the situation is very serious. Whoever cannot return fire will lose. Ukraine will run out of artillery and anti-aircraft shells without further US support.

"Russia now outnumbers Ukraine by 5:1. That is, Russia fires five times more artillery shells into Ukrainian territory than Ukraine fires back. However, this ratio will immediately increase to 10:1 in a few weeks without US support," General Cavoli said.

General Cavoli said the US does not want conflict with Russia.

"Our primary mission is to deter attacks and prevent conflict, not to fight," said General Cavoli.

General Cavoli said Russia is rebuilding its forces much faster than the US and NATO initially estimated. The Russian army is now 15% larger than when the conflict in Ukraine began.

"Over the past two years, the Russian army on the front line has increased from 360,000 to 470,000 people," said General Cavoli, adding that this growth in troop numbers stems from Russian President Vladimir Putin's agreement to increase the military age from 27 to 30./.
