Que Phong Youth: Creative, proactive, volunteering to build the homeland

(Baonghean) - With the spirit of vanguard, Que Phong youth have affirmed their youthful strength through practical emulation movements, actively participating in movements to contribute to the process of building and developing the district's socio-economy.

In the shock movement for socio-economic development, to help youth union members develop the economy, the District Union coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to exploit and effectively use loan capital from this bank, at the same time strengthening the inspection, supervision and support of youth in borrowing capital for economic development, paying attention to training and coaching on entrusted loan capital for Union and Association officials, establishing 50 loan groups with a total outstanding debt of over 44 billion VND.

At the same time, effectively manage and use the district's "Youth Entrepreneurship Fund", select models that meet the standards to request the province's "Youth Entrepreneurship Fund" for loan support. The district's Youth Entrepreneurship Fund has disbursed revolving loans to 10 youth models, worth 100 million VND.

The District Youth Union also stepped up coordination with the Provincial Cooperative Alliance to implement the “Sustainable Livelihood” Project for Que Phong district youth. Organized communication activities on entrepreneurship, responded to the “Youth Entrepreneurship” contest organized by the Provincial Youth Union; career guidance activities for students, counseling, job introduction, career orientation for youth, encouraged and mobilized youth to proactively create jobs, help each other start a business, contribute capital and cooperate in production and business.

Thanks to that, economic models among youth are increasingly expanded and developed steadily. Currently, the whole district has 130 youth models participating in production, business and services, of which 45 youth models have a stable income of 50 million VND/year or more.

Typical models include the Hua Na hydroelectric reservoir model of raising fish in cages, raising pigs combined with growing bamboo of Mr. Lang Van Mao (Dong Van commune) with an annual income of 150 - 170 million VND, the passion fruit growing model combined with raising livestock of Mr. Vi Van Son (Tri Le commune) with an annual income of 70 - 90 million VND, the VACR model of Mr. Thai Huu Trong (Que Son commune) with an income of 50 million VND/year, the unburnt brick production model of Mr. Lo Minh Thin (Muong Noc commune) with an income of 70 - 100 million VND...

Que Phong district youth also has many activities for community life and responds to the new rural construction program. During the term, the youth organizations repaired and built 50km of rural roads; dredged and repaired 25km of irrigation canals worth 500 million VND; poured 20km of rural concrete roads worth an estimated 900 million VND. Mobilized people to voluntarily donate land to open new roads with a length of nearly 1,000m, more than 2.5m wide; 100% of the Youth Union bases effectively carry out monthly volunteer Saturday and Green Sunday activities.

At the same time, the Youth Union of Que Phong district also organized many social and charitable activities. In particular, the volunteer movement gradually went into depth, attracting many participants. Activities focusing on social security contents have created many strong impressions; such as the model of the "Young Doctor" Club of the district established in 2013 marked a new development step in the youth volunteer movement for community life, medical examination and medicine distribution activities towards people in remote areas, giving priority to policy families, poor households, and lonely elderly people have shown profound humanity.

In particular, the District Youth Union launched the program "Bowl of Charity Porridge" for patients being treated at the District General Hospital, which was highly appreciated by departments and branches and enthusiastically responded by youth union members.

In addition, the District Youth Union Standing Committee actively coordinates with Youth Union organizations inside and outside the province, organizations and individuals to organize activities to visit and give gifts to poor people and students. Volunteer activities are organized to prevent and fight storms, floods, tornadoes, etc. The grassroots Youth Union effectively maintains volunteer teams on the spot to promptly respond to and overcome natural disasters, prevent forest fires, promote environmental protection, and help families in difficult circumstances.

One of the tasks that the Youth Union at all levels has paid attention to and performed well is the youth volunteer movement to protect the Fatherland and maintain border security. In 5 years, 345 young people have joined the army, ensuring enough troops according to the set target.

During the past term, many effective models were organized such as: security youth shock team, law propaganda club, border communes' Youth Union coordinated to visit and inspect border lines and landmarks... 14/14 communes and towns established self-governing youth groups, built crime reporting mailboxes; school Youth Unions maintained good traffic safety school gates, focused on propaganda, dissemination and legal education for students.

The work of consolidating and improving the quality of the Youth Union and the grassroots Youth Union has been focused on, especially on innovating the content and form of activities of the Youth Union. Currently, the district's grassroots Youth Union has Youth Union branches in enterprises. Accompanying young people in developing social skills has been focused on, contributing to equipping them with necessary skills, increasing their confidence and initiative. During the term, the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union and the grassroots Youth Union have organized many training courses on professional skills and soft skills; improving knowledge of Youth Union - Team work, and awareness of socio-economics. Organizing dialogues with Party leaders and authorities at all levels...

The above practical activities have contributed to attracting and gathering young people to join the Youth Union. Over the past 5 years, the Youth Union at all levels has organized 143 classes of Youth Union members, introduced 5,509 young people and admitted 4,825 new members. Directed the organization of the new member admission ceremony to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at the Nine-Room Temple for 338 outstanding young people to join the Youth Union. During the term, the number of strong grassroots Youth Union organizations reached 50%, with no weak grassroots Youth Union organizations.

With the slogan "Que Phong Youth: Unity - Overcoming difficulties - Aggressiveness - Creativity", in the coming time, Que Phong district's Youth Union is determined to practice ethics, healthy lifestyle, pioneering, exemplary, law-abiding, having revolutionary ideals, and patriotism.

Continue to compete in studying, starting a business, working creatively, mastering modern science and technology. Promote the spirit of volunteerism and vanguard of the young generation in the cause of industrialization and modernization. Constantly innovate the content and methods of operation, improve the quality of organization and effectiveness of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
