Thus, compared to last year, the number of candidates taking the exam has decreased but the enrollment target has not decreased.

In Thanh Chuong district, according to statistics this year, the whole district has 2,925 ninth graders, a decrease of nearly 700 students compared to the previous school year. With 6 public schools in the whole district, students in the area have less burden of admission as the admission rate is expected to be higher than previous years.

In the whole province, according to the data of universal education for grade 9 students in the 2025-2026 school year, there will be 46,845 students, a decrease of 6,959 compared to the 2024-2025 school year. However, the actual number according to the forecast of the Department of Education and Training will be only about 40,000 students taking the 10th grade entrance exam, a decrease of about 4,000 students compared to the 2024-2025 exam. If calculated in the next 3 years, this is the year with the lowest number of candidates taking the exam. From the 2026-2027 school year, the number of students in the whole province will increase dramatically, even much higher than the 2024-2025 school year, which was the year with a record number of candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam.

Regarding this year's exam, speaking at a press conference on the afternoon of May 5, Mr. Dao Cong Loi - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training said: Although the number of candidates in the 2025-2026 school year has decreased, the industry's view is not to reduce the enrollment quota for public grade 10. Thereby, to reduce pressure on candidates, especially when this is the first exam implemented according to the 2018 General Education Program. In addition, keeping the quota unchanged is also to stabilize the size of schools and the teaching staff of the schools.

Regarding the 10th grade entrance exam, as planned starting tomorrow (May 7), 9th grade students across the province will register for the exam online. Previously, according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, this year candidates have the opportunity to register for 3 wishes. In addition, students can register for advanced model classes at Huynh Thuc Khang, Ha Huy Tap and Le Viet Thuat High Schools.

Currently, over 100 schools, vocational education and continuing education centers and continuing education centers across the province have announced their plans to enroll students in NV1, NV2 and NV3. Based on experience from previous school years, most students choose NV1 to attend public schools.
