USD exchange rate today, September 27, 2024: Sharp decrease both domestically and internationally. Specifically, the domestic USD exchange rate decreased by 29 VND. The US Dollar Index (DXY) decreased by 0.35%.
USD exchange rate today in the world
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the US dollar against six other major currencies, edged down 0.35% to 100.57.
The US dollar weakened in recent trading, while the Swiss franc gained after the Swiss National Bank cut interest rates by 0.25%.
The dollar fell following news that the number of applications for unemployment benefits in the US fell by 4,000 to a four-month low of 218,000, lower than economists had expected.
New reports showed US corporate profits rose more than expected in the second quarter, and gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 3%.
Another measure of US new orders showed surprise growth in August, although business spending on equipment appeared to have fallen in the third quarter.
There are different views on the US Federal Reserve's interest rate cut and economic growth, leaving the market uncertain about its direction.
The Fed has signaled changes in inflation and the US labor market, and recently cut interest rates by 0.5%. The market is pricing in a 100% chance that the Fed will cut interest rates by at least 0.25% at its upcoming meeting, and a 51.3% chance of another 0.5%.
The euro rose 0.41% to $1.1178. The dollar fell 0.55% against the Swiss franc to $0.846. The Swiss National Bank cut interest rates by 25 basis points and did not rule out further cuts if inflation eases.
US central bank officials spoke on September 26, but Fed Chairman Jerome Powell did not comment on monetary policy.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that labor market and inflation data suggest the US economy may be headed for a "soft landing", and that controlling inflation will focus on reducing housing costs.
The Japanese yen edged up 0.1 percent against the dollar to 144.6 yen per dollar. Opinions among Bank of Japan policymakers were divided on whether to raise interest rates further.
The pound rose 0.71% to $1.3417, likely its biggest gain in a month.

- Vietcombank has increased the USD buying and selling price by 50 VND, with the new price being 24,430 VND for buying and 24,800 VND for selling.
- BIDV also increased the USD buying and selling prices by 30 VND, listed at 24,450 VND for buying and 24,790 VND for selling.
- Vietinbank increased the buying and selling price of USD by 30 VND, with the price being 24,300 VND for buying and 24,800 VND for selling.
- Eximbank increased the buying and selling price of USD by 40 VND, listed at 24,430 VND for buying and 24,790 VND for selling.
