A report published in the journal Gastroenterology found that the rate of pancreatic cancer in women under 55 has increased by 2.4% compared to men of the same age. Scientists have called for further research into this alarming trend.

“There is a need to understand these trends and make changes today so this does not disproportionately affect women in the future,” said Dr. Srinivas Gaddam, lead author of the study.

The figures are even more concerning for women of color, with rates 2.23% higher than for young men of color.

“Although we are reporting improved patient survival, cancerpancreas each year, but that improvement was mainly in men. Mortality in women did not improve.”

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of any major cancer in the United States and accounts for 3% of all cancer deaths.

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of any major cancer in the United States and accounts for 3% of all cancer deaths. Researchers used data from the National Cancer Registry Program database, which represents about 64.5% of the U.S. population, examining data from patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer between 2001 and 2018.

Senior author of the study, Dr Srinivas Gaddam, said their findings will hopefully encourage healthier lifestyles.

Gaddam added that the data showed a small increase in the risk of pancreatic cancer and hoped it would encourage people to make healthier choices to reduce their cancer risk.

“Knowledge can lead people to focus on stopping smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and controlling their weight. These lifestyle changes all help reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer,” he said.
