U20 Vietnam convincingly defeated U20 Qatar
(Baonghean.vn) - Despite being tied by a controversial referee decision, U20 Vietnam still played with great courage to win the final victory against U20 Qatar.
The situations of U20 Vietnam and U20 Qatar are opposite after the opening match. While U20 Vietnam got 3 points against U20 Australia thanks to Nguyen Quoc Viet's long-range shot, U20 Qatar lost 0-1 to U20 Iran.
After the opening whistle, U20 Vietnam chose a solid approach to the match. Meanwhile, U20 Qatar was forced to raise their squad to look for an early goal.
The West Asian team created the first chance of the match in the 6th minute, when Al Rawi crossed the ball very accurately for Mubarak to jump high and head the ball, but luckily it found Cao Van Binh and went over the goal.
In the 10th minute, U20 Qatar continued to have a chance to open the score when 11 Al Rawi launched a dangerous curling shot from outside the penalty area but goalkeeper Cao Van Binh excellently flew to push the ball out.
Just 2 minutes after this situation, U20 created the first dangerous situation. From a counter-attack, captain Khuat Van Khang used his speed to get past a Qatar U20 defender and charged straight down the goal, causing the opposing player to commit a foul and receive a yellow card.

In the following minutes, U20 Qatar dominated the game on the field, controlling the ball nearly 70%, but the attacks of the young team from West Asia were not very sharp.
Meanwhile, U20 defended firmly on their home field and waited for opportunities from counterattacks with quick passes.
In such a situation in the 37th minute, striker of Song Lam Nghe An club Ho Van Cuong accelerated on the right wing and faced goalkeeper Amir but was a bit slow in finishing. Then, Van Khang rushed in but was also unable to touch the ball to shoot.
Due to a strong collision with the opposing goalkeeper in this situation, Van Cuong was injured and had to leave the field to make way for Hong Phuc.
However, before the end of the first half, the play of U20 Vietnam also brought sweet results. In the 45+2 minute, Duc Viet stole the ball from a U20 Qatar player and passed it to Van Truong. The Hanoi club player quickly passed the ball to Quoc Viet, who swerved past an opponent defender and then shot the ball into the net, opening the score for U20 Vietnam.

On the other hand, with a good mentality when leading, the U20 Vietnam players both defended firmly and created dangerous situations towards the opponent's goal. In the 75th minute, U20 Vietnam had a chance to double the gap when Van Truong received a pass from Hong Phuc, escaped down the right wing and then fired a very strong diagonal shot but unfortunately the ball hit the post.
Having a favorable position, U20 Vietnam unexpectedly had to accept a penalty in the 84th minute when the referee determined that defender Nguyen Duc Anh pushed the U20 Qatar striker in the penalty area. This was a controversial decision because slow-motion replays showed that the impact of the U20 Vietnam defender was not enough to cause the opposing striker to fall.
On the penalty spot, Ahmed Al Rawi defeated Van Binh to equalize 1-1.
It was thought that after this equalizer, everything would become unfavorable for U20 Vietnam, but just 5 minutes later, from a free kick on the left wing, Duc Phu crossed the ball very well for Van Truong to jump high and head the ball back dangerously, putting U20 Vietnam ahead.
