GROWTH RATE HIGHER THAN NATIONAL AVERAGE

In the first 6 months of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has been complicated, many economic and social activities have been suspended, and most sectors and fields of the economy have been severely affected. The entire political system must focus on both preventing and fighting the pandemic and implementing solutions to remove difficulties for production and business, ensuring social security, and determined to maintain, restore, and develop economic and social activities.

In that context, the growth rate of the province's gross domestic product in the first 6 months of 2020 is estimated to increase by 2.69%, ranking 28th in the country and 2nd in the North Central region. The disbursement rate of concentrated public investment capital is estimated to reach 42.85% of the plan in the first 6 months. The state budget revenue is estimated to be 6,964 billion VND, reaching 45.8% of the estimate.

The industrial production index increased by 1.08% over the same period in 2019. Total retail sales of goods in the first 6 months were estimated at VND 30,789.12 billion, up 0.21%. Service revenue was estimated at VND 8,381.44 billion, equal to 78.81% of the same period in 2019.

The investment and business environment has been increasingly improved; the Party Committee and the government have actively supported business development. In the first 6 months of the year, the province granted new licenses to 39 projects with a total registered investment capital of over VND3,447 billion; 929 new enterprises were established, an increase of 0.76% over the same period.

In addition, state management and administrative reform were strengthened; national defense, security, social order and safety were ensured; inspection and settlement of complaints and denunciations were carried out seriously; education and science and technology achieved many positive results.

At the press conference, the representative of the Provincial Emulation and Reward Committee announced the plan to implement the Patriotic Emulation Congress of Nghe An province for the period 2015 - 2020. The Congress will take place from July 28 - 29 in Vinh City.

The Congress has the task of evaluating the results achieved in the patriotic emulation movement over the past 5 years; pointing out shortcomings and limitations; praising, honoring and rewarding collectives and individuals with many outstanding achievements and setting out directions and tasks for the next 5 years.

Attending the press conference, reporters and journalists raised questions about solutions to remove difficulties for businesses; investment attraction; clean water prices; resolving the situation of illegal land sales in the province; the Project for Socio-Economic Development of the O Du Ethnic Group; supporting people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic...

Representatives of departments and branches frankly discussed, answered and recorded the opinions of journalists and reporters. Mr. Luong Thanh Hai - Head of the Provincial Ethnic Committee admitted that there were shortcomings in the preparation of the Socio-Economic Development Project for the O Du ethnic group. The reason was due to inheriting data from previous projects and affirmed that there was no personal motive in the preparation of the project.

In the last 6 months of the year, Nghe An province will focus on implementing 3 major tasks: preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic; ensuring economic development, production and business; and successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels. Therefore, the province hopes that the press agencies will accompany and focus on promoting strongly to encourage and motivate the entire political system and people to carry out the assigned tasks well.
