“Ukraine will not join NATO, at least not in the near future. The country needs to build a strong army that is ready to fight on its own,” Mr. Smeshko said.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg updated Ukraine's developments at the NATO-Ukraine Commission meeting in Warsaw.
Mr. Stoltenberg said NATO reaffirmed its political support for Ukraine and pledged to provide strong support for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
According to Mr. Stoltenberg, Kiev will receive an expanded aid package in the fields of security and finance through trust funds, including logistics, cyber security, provision of explosive devices and strategic communications, etc.
