Ukraine wants the US to remove restrictions on the use of weapons to attack targets in Russia

TASS news agency reported on May 18 that the Wall Street Journal quoted US officials as saying that Ukraine had asked the administration of US President Joe Biden to identify targets on Russian territory that Kiev could attack.
According to the newspaper, Kiev has also asked Washington to lift restrictions on the use of US weapons against targets on Russian territory.
The Wall Street Journal said the request was made last week and is now being considered by US authorities. Ukraine made such a request to the US amid the Russian military's successes.
At the same time, according to the newspaper, if the US agrees to such changes, it will mean “a major policy change by the US administration”.
Earlier, US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said that the US does not support Ukraine's attacks on territory it recognizes as Russian.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said earlier that Moscow wanted Washington to urge Kiev not only to stop attacks on energy facilities in Russia, but also to stop what Moscow accuses of being “terrorist activities” in general, especially targeting residential buildings.
