At 7:45 a.m. on July 26, the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard, contacted the ship in distress while it was drifting about 49 nautical miles east of the demarcation line of the Gulf of Tonkin. Thereby, they determined that the crew members on board were in normal health and had enough food for the next 5 days.
Currently, Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station is keeping in touch and contacting vessels operating near the area of the ship in distress to come and assist in troubleshooting. Through discussions with the vessel owner, we have now contacted a vessel from Nghe An operating near the area of the ship in distress and is on its way to the rescue. It is expected that at 7:00 p.m. tonight (July 26), this vessel will be able to approach the drifting fishing vessel.
