German Chancellor candidate promises to restart Nord Stream
German Chancellor candidate Weidel promises to restart Nord Stream, if elected.

According to RIA Novosti, the German newspaper Welt reported that the German Chancellor candidate of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Alice Weidel, pledged to restart the Nord Stream gas pipeline if she wins the upcoming parliamentary election.
“We will get Nord Stream back online, that is for sure,” Ms Weidel said at the AfD party congress.
Ms Weidel also pledged to demolish all wind farms already built, calling them “windmills of shame”, to bring nuclear power plants back online and extend the life of coal plants.
In addition, the chancellor candidate announced that she would close Germany's borders to illegal migrants and begin large-scale deportations.
In early November, German politics faced a split in the government coalition. The crisis began after Finance Minister Christian Lindner, head of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), quit the cabinet under the tug of war from Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The reason was that Chancellor Scholz pointed to the reluctance of the head of the Finance Ministry to simultaneously approve increased spending to support Ukraine and invest in Germany's future.
As a result, the German Parliament passed a vote of no confidence in Mr. Scholz. Early parliamentary elections in this country will take place on February 23.
