V.League 2018: When "we spoil the West"

Right after contributing 12 goals and helping Quang Nam win the championshipV.League 2017, foreign player Claudecir was given information: "Your team will participate in the prestigious AFC Champions League and is about to receive huge sponsorships, find a way to ask for a salary increase".

Then Claudecir's agent revealed the news: There was a Chinese team willing to pay more than $400,000/year. Without thinking, it was absurd because he only needed to pay $50,000 to release his contract and leave Quang Nam, but Claudecir did not do it.

And of course, the final outcome for a Vietnamese team that wants to own this foreign player: If you don't get a raise, come back to my team.

Claudecir did not know that Mr. Hong (Quang Nam FC), a veteran in football, had added a compensation clause to his contract that for one year, "forbids" Claudecir from moving to play for another team in Vietnam.

When the time has come, Quang Nam FC has signed another foreign player to replace Claudecir's position in the squad.

Quang Nam FC leaders recently confirmed that they are willing to reduce Claudecir’s contract compensation to 50,000 or 60,000 USD. However, the Quang Nam team affirmed that they will not compromise in “forbidding” Claudecir from moving to play for another team in V.League 2018.

Caught in the situation of “advancing but getting stuck in the mountains, retreating but getting stuck in the rivers”, the possibility of Claudecir being “kicked out” of V.League 2018 is very high. Those in the profession feel sad for the “taking the wood from the bottom of the pot” behavior of a “big shot” on the football field without saying anything, everyone knows.

The leader of XSKT Can Tho said that at the end of last season, Nsi Amogou, the player who scored 16 goals in the season, signed a contract with XSKT Can Tho Club to play in V.League 2018. However, recently, this striker "broke off the engagement" and decided to join Saigon Club, following the "thunderbolt call" of the new owner of Saigon FC.

Mr. Tran Tien Dai said that Saigon FC had tried Nsi for 2 weeks and signed a contract with this striker and said that anyone who wants to register this player must show the contract to Saigon FC (?!).

In that situation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh - Executive Director of Can Tho Club emphasized that Can Tho has full legal basis and clear documents to prove that Nsi has signed a contract with him. He affirmed that if he wants to sign another contract, Nsi must have a contract termination certificate from Can Tho Lottery: "We have no need to show documents to anyone, because Nsi is a Can Tho person, not in dispute with anyone. If Nsi wants to sign a contract with another team, he must have a termination certificate from Can Tho. In this case, he has not done so, so he is still our person."

Immediately after the unsuccessful meeting with XSKT Can Tho, Nsi's representative, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau, spoke up to confirm that his client had signed a contract extension with XSKT Can Tho to compete in V.League 2018.

Mr. Chau admitted that if Can Tho takes drastic measures, Nsi may have to leave the V.League arena and return home: “Nsi has signed all contracts with Can Tho and advanced the team’s money through me. If he still refuses to return, he will not be able to play. Even if Can Tho sends a document requesting Nsi’s deportation to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security, he will have to return home.”

If Claudecir and Nsi are in a situation of “sitting around doing nothing”, this will also be a lesson for foreign players who “look at this mountain and that mountain”. But those who “pull the strings” for foreign players also need to be condemned by public opinion, because after all, they are the source of the trouble.
