Operation of Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 Hydropower Plants in Nghe An

On the afternoon of June 28, at Ca Nan 2 Hydropower Plant, Huu Kiem Commune, Ky Son District, Nghe An, SCI Company held the inauguration ceremony of Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 Hydropower Plant Project.

The factory will contribute95 million kWh/year to the national grid

Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Plant and Ca Nan 2 Hydropower Plant Projects are part of the Ca Nan Hydropower Project chain, invested by SCI Joint Stock Company, the general contractor is SCI E&C Joint Stock Company; construction was officially started on April 21, 2017 with a total capacity of 23 MW.

Of which, Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Plant Project has a capacity of 7 MW located in Na Ngoi commune, Ca Nan 2 Hydropower Plant Project has a capacity of 16 MW located in Chieu Luu and Huu Kiem communes, built on an area of ​​143 hectares in Ky Son district, Nghe An province; with a total project investment of 810,842 billion VND.

The project was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade under Decision 1114/QD-BCT dated March 24, 2016 and approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province under Document 5239/UBND-CN dated July 22, 2016.

After 3 years of construction, building and equipment installation, both factories have now come into operation and connected to the national grid.

The completed projects are assessed to ensure quality and comply with environmental regulations. When put into operation, the plant will contribute to increasing the power supply capacity to serve the socio-economic development of Nghe An province. It is estimated that the two plants will contribute 95 million kWh to the national grid annually.

At the ceremony,Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc - General Director of SCI Joint Stock Companyaffirms: "With the philosophy of "Creating value, enhancing position", in recent years, SCI officers and employees have always tried to create valuable projects, contributing to the development of the country. The two hydropower plants Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 will contribute an average of 35 billion VND to the local budget each year and it is estimated that during the entire operation of the plant, it will contribute about 1,200 billion VND to the local budget.

Besides, the company always shows responsibility to the community, accompanies and helps those in difficult circumstances, to stabilize social security.

Speaking at the ceremony,Comrade La Van Chanh - Vice Chairman of Ky Son District People's Committeesaid: "The decision to grant an investment license to SCI Nghe An Company Limited to implement the Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 Hydropower projects aims to contribute to supplying electricity, stabilizing the lives of local people in particular, and at the same time contributing to connecting to the national grid. He praised the efforts of the investor and contractors during the construction process, and the consensus of the people in the affected area during the resettlement process.

He hopes that in the coming time, the investor SCI Nghe An Company Limited will continue to operate the factory effectively, and continue to coordinate with departments, branches and sectors of Nghe An province, Ky Son district and communes to take good care of the people; pay attention to environmental issues during the project's operation.

Actively carry out community activities

During the implementation of the Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Plant and Ca Nan 2 Hydropower Plant projects, SCI visited and gave warm blankets to the people in the highlands of Na Ngoi and Huu Kiem communes; and many gifts to disadvantaged students in Tang Phan and Huoi Thum villages.

In particular, the Company has invested in building a 150 KVA transformer station and nearly 3 km of power lines to supply electricity to 100 households in Tang Phan village, Na Ngoi commune (with a total value of 500 million VND); invested in a transformer station line for Huoi Thum village worth 450 million VND. And the investment in building the factory has created 32 km long traffic routes connecting National Highway 7 with communes and villages in the area and providing telecommunications and information to neighboring residents.
