Van Quyet faces long-term ban from competition

Disciplinary BoardVietnam Football Federation(VFF) is working with Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) to complete the file to handle Van Quyet. The player of the Hanoi team had a scuffle, elbowing the assistant referee in the chest after the 1-3 loss to Binh Dinh at Quy Nhon Stadium on the evening of April 17. This is an act of violating the body of an official of the tournament organizing committee and will be severely punished.

According to the VFF Disciplinary Board, they will rely on the minutes of the assistant referee, referee supervisor, match supervisor and the recommendation of VPF. If Van Quyet admits to physically assaulting the referee, the Disciplinary Board will not need to look at the tape. However, if there is a technical tape, the Disciplinary Board will have a more accurate understanding of the situation.

The penalty for a player who "uses force, commits a serious foul or intentionally violates another person's body" is very severe. The referee is a match official, so Van Quyet's violation may fall under Point B, Clause 2, Article 39. The penalty is a ban from playing from 5 to 8 matches with a fine of up to 40 million VND.

If the technical video of the match shows a more serious level, Van Quyet may be determined by the Disciplinary Board under Clause 3 as "Physical abuse in particularly serious cases", and may be banned from football activities for up to 24 months or banned from football activities for a limited period or indefinitely.

Maybe next week, the VFF Disciplinary Board will issue a disciplinary decision for Van Quyet.
