The Wall Street Journal said that the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Kursk region would be a heavy blow to Kiev.
According to RIA Novosti, the Wall Street Journal (USA) said that a Russian counterattack in the Kursk region had a significant symbolic impact, ultimately destroying Ukraine's hopes for the success of the raid on this Russian territory.
In the ongoing counteroffensive in the direction of Kursk, Russian armed forces have recaptured a number of settlements that Ukraine had controlled and continue to advance over a large area of territory.
“Being evicted from some settlements in the Kursk region would be a symbolic blow for Ukraine,” the Wall Street Journal said.
The publication believes that the successes of the Russian army could nullify the hopes that came from the propaganda about the “Kursk adventure” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Wall Street Journal pointed out that Russia launched a counter-offensive in the Kursk region amid worsening relations between Ukraine and its allies. Western allies are putting pressure on Kiev to develop realistic military plans.
“The Russian offensive in the Kursk region comes at a difficult time for Ukraine,” the publication writes.
Deputy Head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and Commander of the Akhmat Special Forces, Major General Apty Alaudinov, announced on September 11 that the Russian army had recaptured 10 settlements in Kursk. According to General Alaudinov, the Ukrainian army is suffering heavy losses and is beginning to realize that holding this territory will not be easy.
A representative of the Russian law enforcement agency told RIA Novosti that a counteroffensive has begun in the Kursk region. He added that the military has captured a group of Ukrainian military attack aircraft.
