Vietnam is working with Taiwanese authorities to identify six bodies found in a factory fire in Taoyuan City.

Taiwanese authorities said this afternoon that six Vietnamese workers were still missing after a fire broke out at a heat-insulating film factory in Taoyuan City, northwest of Taiwan. Authorities discovered six bodies in the fire and are verifying their identities, Le Thi Thu Hang, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press conference this afternoon.

The fire broke out in the workers' housing area and the factory's warehouse. Of the five injured workers who were taken to the hospital, two have been discharged.

The Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei has sent officials to the scene of the fire to consider citizen protection measures. Officials of the Office are still monitoring and coordinating with Taiwanese authorities to update information about Vietnamese workers.

Ms. Hang said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the identities of the dead and injured will be determined by the end of today.

According to CNA, the Taoyuan City Fire Department in northwestern Taiwan has confirmed that two Vietnamese workers have died in the fire. The fire broke out at 2 a.m. this morning and quickly spread over an area of ​​1,000 square meters. After 4 hours of fighting the fire, firefighters extinguished the blaze at 6 a.m.
