Vietnam promotes institutional reform
Speaking at the opening session of the 26th WEF ASEAN, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is striving towards sustainable growth, determined to build a development-oriented government, and promote institutional reform.
On May 11, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc began attending activities at the 26th World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN).

More than 600 delegates attended, including senior leaders of many countries; leaders of many international organizations, large corporations in the region and the world.
Many opinions assess that ASEAN faces many challenges and difficulties in the face of rapid and profound changes in politics, economics, society and technology in the world; in which geopolitical shifts in the region, increasing protectionist trends and the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are increasingly having a profound impact on the ASEAN integration process as well as the development of member countries.
Besides, ASEAN countries also face difficulties in development such as increasing development gap, social inequality, environmental degradation, etc.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc shared with ASEAN leaders about the achievements in development and regional integration that ASEAN has achieved over the past 50 years.
The Prime Minister emphasized that ASEAN countries need to create stronger new growth momentum from innovation; focus on education and training so that people, especially young workers, can catch up with technological advances and meet new job requirements.
The Prime Minister proposed that the WEF-ASEAN Forum consider establishing a working group to research and recommend policies on education, vocational training, and promote the formation of creative start-up ideas.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is striving towards sustainable growth on the basis of improving growth quality, taking advantage of opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to increase productivity and competitiveness; determined to build a development-oriented government, promote institutional reform, create a favorable environment for businesses and people to promote entrepreneurial spirit and creativity to contribute to the country's development.
On the same day, the Prime Minister received WEF Managing Director Philipp Roesler, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun and President of Cisco ASEAN - Mr. Naveen Men.
On the afternoon of May 11, the Prime Minister and leaders of ASEAN countries listened to the WEF's ASEAN Regional Strategy Group (RSG) present a research report on ASEAN's development and integration issues.
That same evening, the Prime Minister attended a solemn reception for the conference chaired by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
