Striker Huynh Nhu goes to Portugal to play

On August 22, the captain of the Vietnamese women's team will go to Portugal to play for Lank Club with a 2-year contract.

Huynh Nhu was invited by this Club since 2020, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, she has not been able to fulfill her dream of competing abroad.

Huynh Nhu's only obstacle before signing the contract is the mandatory medical examination. If everything goes well, Huynh Nhu will be the first Vietnamese female player to play in Europe.

Huynh Nhu has been the number one striker of the Vietnamese team for many years.

Huynh Nhu is 31 years old this year, born in Tra Vinh, she has been the number one striker of Vietnamese women's football for many years.

Huynh Nhu grew up at Tao Dan women's football training center (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). She won the National Championship 7 times, the National Cup 3 times and the National Sports Festival Championship 1 time in Ho Chi Minh City's colors. Huynh Nhu won 4 Vietnamese Women's Golden Balls, 4 Top Scorer titles and was the Best Player of the National Championship many times.

"Number 9" is the captain of the Vietnamese women's team, having won 3 Gold Medals at the 2017, 2019 and 2021 SEA Games, and won the 2019 AFF Cup. She also holds the record for scoring the most goals for the Vietnamese women's team with 59 goals, 2 more than her senior Luu Ngoc Mai.

Going to Europe to compete is good preparation for Huynh Nhu for the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Vietnam is not in the same group as Thailand at AFF Cup 2022

On August 22, the Southeast Asian Football Federation announced the seeding rankings for the 2022 AFF Cup, based on the teams' achievements in the last two seasons. Accordingly, Group 1 includes Thailand (2020 AFF Cup Champion) and Vietnam (2018 AFF Cup Champion). Group 2 includes Indonesia and Malaysia. Because they are in the same seeding group, the Vietnamese and Thai teams will not be in the same group at the 2022 AFF Cup.

Pot 3 is the Philippines and Singapore. Pot 4 is Cambodia and Myanmar. Pot 5 is Laos and the winner of the Timor Leste - Brunei play-off.

Thus, DVietnam teamand Thailand will not meet in the group stage. Previously, the General Secretary of the Football Association of Thailand - Suphaphong informed that the seeding ranking of the AFF Cup 2022 will be based on the achievements of the last 3 seasons, meaning that Indonesia (runner-up in the last 2 seasons) will be in group 1 with Thailand, not Vietnam.

According to the schedule, at 2:00 p.m. on August 30 in Bangkok - Thailand, the AFF Cup 2022 Organizing Committee will conduct the group draw.

After the 2020 season was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the AFF Cup will return to the home and away format from the group stage (each team has 2 home matches, 2 away matches) and play first/second leg, home/away from the semi-finals.

Currently, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia all set early goals to win the championship.

To prepare for the tournament, all teams will take advantage of FIFA Day in September to organize friendly matches and tournaments. In addition to the friendly match with the Singapore team on September 21, coach Park Hang-seo and his team are scheduled to have another friendly match on September 27, both at Thong Nhat Stadium - Ho Chi Minh City.

Coach Viet Hoang leads Ho Chi Minh City Club from round 14

Mr. Truong Viet Hoang will take over the Ho Chi Minh City Team from August 23. After receiving the handover from Chairman Nguyen Huu Thang, Mr. Hoang will prepare the team and tactics for the away match against Hai Phong in round 14.

"Everything is done, coach Viet Hoang will take over the team tomorrow. Huu Thang will continue his work as the team's President. Coach Minh Chien still has a contract with the team and will be assigned other tasks," a leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Club shared.

Coach Viet Hoang's contract with Ho Chi Minh City Club lasts until the end of the 2022 season. The team's goal is to stay in the league. At the end of the 2022 season, the two sides will sit down to talk about the future.

Before being selected by the Ho Chi Minh City Club leadership to replace coach Minh Chien, Mr. Hoang was an advisor at the Viettel U15 team. Because Mr. Hoang needed time to carefully consider leaving the Viettel Club, Ho Chi Minh City Club was temporarily led by Chairman Huu Thang in rounds 12 and 13.

Coach Viet Hoang once led Hai Phong Club to win the V.League 2016 runner-up with 50 points. In the 2020 season, he led Viettel team to win the V.League at Thong Nhat Stadium in the first group season in history.

After the 2021 season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, coach Truong Viet Hoang led the team until round 7 of V.League 2022, then was transferred to Viettel Youth Training Center. This is part of the reason why this coach decided to join Ho Chi Minh City. He will lead Lee Nguyen and his teammates towards the goal of staying in V.League.

Ho Chi Minh City Club just won 2-1 in the city football derby. They have 12 points, ranked 11th and pushed Nam Dinh (10 points) to the second to last place in the rankings. Meanwhile, Saigon Club is still at the bottom of the table with 7 points.

MU convincingly defeated Liverpool

Early morning of August 23 (Hanoi time), the "Red Devils" defeated Liverpool in the late match of round 3 of the Premier League at home ground Old Trafford.
