Experts say that it is necessary to change the teaching methods in teacher training schools to be closer to reality, contributing to innovation and improving the quality of education.

Pedagogy students still use old learning methods, copying lessons, reciting lectures and are limited in critical and creative thinking... As a result, when they graduate, they cannot fully develop their abilities and new teaching methods are also limited.

Students today have many qualities of intelligence, creativity, and flexibility, but teachers are trained in the old way, with lesson plans prepared decades ago, so they cannot keep up with educational innovation. Therefore, many experts in the education sector suggest that the training method for students in teacher training colleges should be changed. Teachers must be the ones to impart learning methods, interest, and passion for knowledge to students, not to cram knowledge by rote memorization...

Professor, Doctor of Science Tran Ngoc Them, Director of the Center for Theoretical and Applied Cultural Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, said: Education and training in the integration period is completely different from the traditional closed education. It is time to seriously reconsider the way of educating university students, especially students of pedagogical colleges. From there, students have the right to interact, argue and debate with teachers to find their own lessons.

Professor Tran Ngoc Them said: “To win a Nobel Prize, it is not as simple as just memorizing and coping; nor is it as simple as taking an exam and winning an international award to win a Nobel Prize. People like Professor Ngo Bao Chau - to have such great creativity, all need the support of Western education. This shows the many shortcomings in our traditional education system.”

Changing teaching and learning in teacher training colleges is not an independent problem, but requires the interdependence of many different areas. Among them, there needs to be changes in facilities, a team of teachers with access to advanced education...

According to Professor, Doctor, Distinguished Teacher Le Tien Thuong, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology: Currently, our country has too many teacher training colleges, while financial resources are limited. As a result, the facilities and equipment of teacher training colleges are old and outdated, unable to meet the requirements of teacher training according to new standards.

In addition, the teacher training program needs to be innovated compared to the old program to meet the requirements of capacity development. The general schools require the students to have the same capacity, and the teacher educators themselves must be able to train those capacity in the student teachers.

Teaching and learning in teacher training colleges need to be updated according to the development trends of society, keeping up with the world's education. Master Trinh Thi My Hien, Head of the Department of Legal Inspection and Quality Assurance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology, said: Currently, most teachers are very good at knowledge, but each person has a different style and teaching method.

This shows that there is no standardization of teaching style. In addition, it is necessary to focus on the selection of students in the pedagogical field. Pedagogy is a profession that trains human products, so the criteria must be higher. If the input is not standard, the students are not good, it is very difficult to train good teachers.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Hong, Deputy Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers, Ministry of Education and Training said: The orientation of the industry is to focus on planning and arranging teacher training institutions into a system, in the direction of taking traditional teacher training institutions with strengths and potential as the core.

At the same time, the curriculum, training models and teaching methods are being innovated. Currently, teacher training schools have also reached an agreement on the training content as well as the time for teacher training students to practice teaching.

“In the training program, 1/4 of the program content is devoted to enhancing the practical teaching capacity of student teachers. Pedagogical schools also agree that 70% of the program is basically common, with the same standards so that there is no difference in the training program among pedagogical schools.”

From now on, teacher training colleges must quickly innovate their goals, content, methods and evaluation of training results, and foster student teachers in the direction of practical learning and practice. From there, they will contribute to innovation and improvement of education quality at all levels./.
