Lieutenant Colonel, Master, Doctor Nguyen Le - Institute 103, Military Medical Academy presented at the conference on elderly health care. |
At this workshop, Lieutenant Colonel, Master, Doctor Nguyen Le from Institute 103 - Military Medical Academy helped participants gain more knowledge about health care and nutrition for the elderly. According to Dr. Nguyen Le, the events of old age that reduce the quality of life are that the elderly often recover slowly from illness, are tired, have loss of appetite, have difficulty sleeping, are susceptible to malnutrition, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases.
Doctors advise the elderly to supplement foods containing the nutrient Glucoraphanin (natural extract from broccoli sprouts) to help the body eliminate toxins and neutralize free radicals. In addition, according to statistics from the Vietnam Osteoporosis Association, 2.8 million Vietnamese people have osteoporosis, of which 76% are women and 50% of women over 50 years old have osteoporosis in the lumbar spine, mainly due to an unreasonable diet. In addition to a reasonable diet, compliance with medication and a scientific lifestyle are also important factors to help the elderly have a happier and healthier life.
