(Baonghean.vn) - To support those on the front lines of the fight against the epidemic, Tran Thu Trang and her husband in Block 2, Dung Town, Thanh Chuong District have started to produce hundreds of protective glasses to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic and donate them to medical facilities, quarantine areas, and checkpoints in the district.

On the afternoon of April 3, Ms. Trang’s family donated 70 protective glasses to Thanh Chuong District General Hospital. Previously, the Dai Dong centralized quarantine area, the town’s medical station, and other quarantine areas in Thanh Son and Thanh Huong communes were given dozens of these protective glasses.

The safety glasses that Trang's family produces are made from transparent mica sheets (the type used to cover the outside of books).cut and shape skillfully. Then, use more foam pieces, cushions, and worms to make a headband, helping the glasses not to be too close to the face, limiting moisture from fogging the glasses.

This protective glasses hat has 2 main parts: the face cover and the headband, which is effective for the user to prevent droplets and respiratory secretions when coughing and sneezing, helping to prevent Covid-19 infection. The protective glasses hat can be wiped and washed quickly. When in contact, people wear a cloth mask inside and a protective hat outside.

According to Ms. Trang, in the days when the Covid-19 epidemic was raging everywhere, with complicated and dangerous developments, while protective equipment and means for disease prevention and control were still lacking, her family had planned to produce masks to give to everyone, but because the fabric could not be imported, the couple decided to produce protective glasses and hats to give to medical facilities, quarantine checkpoints, isolation areas... the forces on the front lines.

To complete 300 protective glasses in a short time, in addition to the couple, the family also had to mobilize 3 other siblings to participate. Because her husband - Mr. Nguyen Quang Tien works in the production of performance props, so when starting to make protective glasses to prevent the epidemic, it was not really difficult.

Before making protective glasses, the couple also researched the actual needs, consulted many people, and when encouraged by everyone, they boldly made them. The protective glasses were soon born in the nurturing, waiting and enthusiasm of the couple. With the spirit of "fighting the epidemic like fighting the enemy", the family devoted their entire home space to focus on its production, working day and night.

In recent days, many medical facilities, quarantine points, and checkpoints in the district have registered to receive these protective glasses. Her family will produce them based on the number of registrations, and some units have already received full donations. The units that register later will receive them in the following days. In addition to the 300 already made, the couple will continue to produce them to serve the needs of epidemic prevention and control. "If we receive fabric in the near future, my husband's market may produce masks to give to everyone," said Trang.

It is known that Ms. Trang is a dance instructor. Both she and her husband have been active members of Thanh Chuong Volunteer Club since the early days and have contributed a lot to charity and social activities in the area.

Sharing about her family's production of protective helmets, Ms. Trang said: While the whole country is working day and night to fight the Covid-19 epidemic, especially the forces on the front lines, the people are contributing bundles of vegetables, jars of pickles, kilos of rice, eggs... our family also wants to do something useful, to join hands with the community to prevent and fight the epidemic.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Dieu, a cultural officer of Dung town, said: “Ms. Thu Trang and her husband are members of the Thanh Chuong Charity Club, and have participated in performances and co-organized more than a dozen Charity Music Nights and Charity Mid-Autumn Festivals. With their hearts, they also made their own Covid-19 shields at a time when those who are in direct contact with people at high risk of infection are in dire need of them. This action is very timely, worthy of respect and admiration.”
