On August 22, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Phuoc Province Police detained Bui Thi Hoa (35 years old, residing in Dong Tam Commune, Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc) to investigate and clarify the act of murder.
According to the initial investigation: At 4:00 p.m. on August 12, Hoa and her husband, Mr. D.VH (46 years old), were preparing dinner. Afterwards, Mr. H. felt dizzy and vomited continuously. Mr. H. was taken by locals to a nearby clinic for examination.
Here, Mr. H. told the doctor that Hoa had put poison ivy leaves in the bitter melon soup for him to eat. Afterwards, Mr. H. was transferred to Binh Phuoc General Hospital for emergency treatment, but died shortly thereafter.

Immediately afterwards, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police organized a crime scene investigation, autopsy, confiscated and sealed Mr. H's remaining food to conduct an expert examination.
After committing the crime, Hoa fled to the North. Knowing that she could not escape punishment, on August 21, the subject went to Thanh Son District Police (Phu Tho) to surrender. The subject admitted to poisoning her husband with poison leaves. Afterwards, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police transferred Hoa to Binh Phuoc to handle the investigation according to their authority.
