At a media talk on the sidelines of the introduction and contract signing ceremony to send Cong Phuong to Belgium to play for Sint Truidense VV, Mr. Duc shared almost all of his thoughts about Cong Phuong, about V.League and the story of Vietnamese players playing abroad.

“Let me tell you, it’s not just Belgian clubs that are interested in Cong Phuong. Before I decided to let Phuong go to Europe to play in Belgium, there were 4 clubs from France, Japan, and two Thai clubs that wanted Cong Phuong.”
Mr. Duc said that his decision to send Cong Phuong to Belgium was purely a professional matter and not a commercial contract as the media speculated.
“Cong Phuong will receive a monthly salary equal to a year’s salary in Vietnam. This is clearly a deal that benefits both sides. HAGL and Cong Phuong will earn a large sum of money from sending their players abroad, while Sint Truidense VV wants Cong Phuong simply for professional reasons,” Mr. Duc continued.
When asked about the question of whether Mr. Duc thought that when he went to Belgium, Cong Phuong would have to face the risk of sitting on the bench for the entire season like what happened in Korea, the famous boss of Vietnamese football seemed comfortable, saying that being a reserve in a quality tournament in Europe is also considered a success.
