Was the Kennedy assassination organized by Vice President Johnson?

The Soviet government considered the Kennedy assassination to have been organized by US Vice President Lindon Johnson, declassified FBI documents show.

US President Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963.

Johnson became president of the United States after the assassination of John Kennedy in November 1963.

According to private sources in 1965 Soviet intelligence officers were tasked with developing information about Johnson, his personality, biography, friends, family and all his supporters.

"Our own sources added that instructions from Moscow stated that the KGB had data indicating that President Johnson was responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy," the FBI document signed by agency director Edgar Huvert said.

"The KGB headquarters said that within the framework of this situation the Soviet government needed to know about President Johnson's personal relations with the Kennedy family, especially President Johnson with (the president's brothers) Robert and Ted Kennedy."

Another private source in the Soviet Union told the FBI in 1963 that the Soviet Communist Party authorities considered the assassination to be the result of an internal conspiracy in the United States.
