During the investigation of the shocking case of a wife killing her husband and beheading him to dispose of the body, investigators were surprised by the crime the woman committed; notably, her unusual calmness.

The Night After the Crime

Regarding the shocking case of a wife killing her husband and dismembering his body to dispose of the evidence that occurred in Binh Duong, the police have now completed the process of taking the statement of suspect Hoang Thi Hong Diem (born in 1985, residing in Phuong Binh hamlet, Phuong Phu commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province).

By the afternoon of December 18, professional units of Binh Duong Provincial Police continued to spread out to several places to search for the remaining body parts of the victim Lam Thanh Tu (not Tran Thanh Tu as initially reported, born in 1980, residing in Chuong Hien Hamlet, Thanh Tri Commune, Thanh Tri District, Soc Trang Province, who is the husband and temporarily residing at the same address as suspect Diem).

At the police station, suspect Diem appeared unusually calm, cooperated with the investigation, and gave a clear statement.

According to the investigators, during the interrogation, Diem appeared unusually calm, giving a detailed account of the crime without crying or showing any remorse. Diem cooperated well, gave a sincere statement, and pointed out the location of the garbage dumps where her husband's body parts were dumped to hide the evidence. Most of the victim Tu's body was found, but according to the police, some body parts have not been found because the current situation at the garbage dumps has been disturbed over time.

The police only informed that Diem murdered her husband because of a marital conflict, however, some neighbors close to Diem and her husband said that Diem was likely jealous because her husband had a lover outside, so she acted cruelly during an argument and fight with her husband.

Binh Duong Province Police confirmed that Diem had stated that on the night of December 15, the victim Tu returned home from drinking. There, Diem and Mr. Tu had a heated argument, leading to a fight. Diem grabbed a cleaver in the house and attacked, slashing her husband repeatedly, causing him to collapse and die in the room.

Diem admitted that after attacking her husband, she was extremely panicked but did not dare to cry out to anyone. After a few dozen minutes of calming herself down, facing her husband's body and the bloody crime scene, Diem regained her composure and thought about disposing of the crime.

Diem used the knife used to commit the crime to dismember her husband's body and put it in plastic bags and backpacks in the rented room. Taking advantage of the early morning of December 16, Diem used a motorbike to transport the body parts to dump in landfills around Thuan Giao ward.

Returning to her rented room at dawn, Diem could not sleep and proceeded to clean up the traces. Waiting until morning, Diem took the blood-stained motorbike to a nearby house to wash it clean…

Victim Tu's slippers are still in front of the rented room.

Diem said that because the body was cleaned up and disposed of in a calculated manner, she was very confident in the following days, thinking that no one would discover it. Notably, Diem was not haunted at all, and was still living and working in the rented room that was the scene of the crime.

Body identified, head of younger brother through social network facebook

Ms. Hoa (47 years old), a resident living near Diem and her husband's boarding house, said: "Mr. Tu lived in harmony and happily. On the afternoon of December 16, Mr. Tu was nowhere to be seen. Neighbors asked Diem, and she said her husband had some kind of debt and could not pay it, so he went back to his hometown to avoid debt."

Ms. Hoa also said: "The day we discovered the human head in a plastic bag on Thuan Giao 09 street, my neighbors and I went to see. When I was there, I also saw Ms. Diem, who would have thought...?"

On December 18, when the police officially arrested Diem and searched her room, seizing many exhibits, the surrounding people were shocked and terrified...

Currently, the area of the boarding house where Diem and her husband's room was located, the scene of the crime on Thuan Giao 05 Street, is closed and quiet. In front of Diem's room, there are still the victim Tu's slippers, where people around burn incense. Only a few people gathered in front to discuss the case of a wife killing her husband and brutally dismembering his body.

The rented room of Ms. Thuy's family, located opposite the rented room of Diem and her husband, on December 18th, they packed up their belongings and moved elsewhere because... they were too haunted to stay where the terrible crime took place. A series of rooms in the rented room were similar, they also quietly left for other places...

Many neighbors, when asked, expressed pity for Mr. Tu because he usually lived a sincere and happy life with his neighbors. Residents of the boarding house had little contact with suspect Diem. According to them, Diem usually came home from work, closed the door, or stayed at home to do housework, and rarely socialized or talked with people around.

Neighbors said that Mr. Tu and his wife Diem have two children, now 14 and 8 years old. Because they have to work far from home to earn a living, they send their children to school. The couple works hard and sends money back home to raise their children.

People are haunted and do not dare to live near the rented room where the crime took place.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, who lives next door, said: “On the night of December 15, I did not hear Mr. Tu and Mrs. Diem arguing at all. During the night, I only heard voices, seemingly Mr. Tu returning to his room: “Why didn’t Diem turn on the lights?” They lived here and did not argue at all.

After people discovered part of a human body in a trash can near my house, I saw Diem calmly go out to look and then return to her rented room and close the door. Diem's attitude at that time was also calm, nothing unusual."

On the afternoon of December 18, Mr. Lam Van Tam (born in 1970, the real brother of the victim Tu) took a bus from his hometown in Soc Trang to the scene of the rented room.

Mr. Lam Van Tam said he identified the body part as his brother's through the social network Facebook.

Mr. Tam, in a daze, confirmed that he recognized his younger brother from the image of a human head found in a garbage dump on December 16, when netizens posted it on Facebook. When he learned about it, he and his relatives collapsed in pain.

Mr. Tam added that because the brothers lived far apart and had little contact, he did not know much about his younger brother's private life. Now, Mr. Tam, the family representative, is contacting the authorities to receive his brother's body for funeral arrangements.

Binh Duong province police are currently expanding the investigation into this shocking case.
