Suspected suicide of a family jumping off a bridge: The father gambled online?
A local leader said that the father in the case of the family jumping off a bridge to commit suicide was involved in online gambling and owed a large amount of money.
On September 15, Mr. Tran The Nhan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Trieu Thanh Commune (Trieu Phong, Quang Tri) said that the locality is coordinating with the authorities to arrange the funeral for the 3 victims and investigate the cause of the suspected suicide of the whole family by jumping off a bridge.

Meanwhile, a leader of this commune said that initial information showed that Nguyen Thien Tu (born in 1998, residing in Trieu Thanh commune - the father in the incident) participated in online gambling and borrowed money from several places.
According to this leader, Tu has been gambling online for about 2 years now. "There were times when Tu won up to a billion dong," said the leader of Trieu Thanh commune.
Knowing the information, local police reminded Tu to give up but the victim refused to listen.
Relatives of the victims said that the family of victim Tu is in debt with a huge amount of money.
On the same day, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chien, Chief of Quang Tri Town Police (Quang Tri Province) said that the unit is currently verifying information about whether the victim Tu gambled online, borrowed money... or not.

Previously, at around 11pm on September 13, people discovered 2 pairs of sandals and a motorbike left on Ga Bridge (Thach Han River, Quang Tri town), so they suspected that someone had jumped off the bridge to commit suicide.
This morning (September 15), people discovered the body of NDMH (18 months old, in Dai Loc bridge area, Trieu Thuan commune, Trieu Phong, Quang Tri) and his father Nguyen Thien Tu (body discovered in Ga bridge area, Thach Han river).
On the same afternoon, the body of Ms. DTMH (born 2000) was discovered in the river section of Trung Kien village (Trieu Thuong, Trieu Phong).
The bodies of the three victims were brought home for funeral arrangements.
The case is being investigated and clarified by the police.
