Incident in Ha Tinh: Wife strangled husband to death with shirt, dumped body in garden

On July 9, Nghi Xuan District Police (Ha Tinh) said they were coordinating with the Criminal Police Department (Ha Tinh Police) to temporarily detain Tran Thi Lien (46 years old, residing in Xuan Hoi commune) to take statements and investigate the crime of murder.

According to the investigation documents, at noon on July 6, during the memorial service, Ms. Lien was hit on the head by her husband, Mr. Pham Anh Son (54 years old), who was drunk and angry. She restrained and tied her husband with a rope, locked him in the bathroom, then continued to hold the memorial service for her father-in-law with her children.

At around 8pm that same day, after finishing work, because Mr. Son continued to curse, Ms. Lien went into the bathroom and used rope and tape to cover her husband's mouth. At 1:30am on July 7, she wrapped a long-sleeved shirt around Mr. Son's neck and strangled him, causing him to suffocate and die.

After committing the crime, Ms. Lien used scissors to cut the rope and shirt, and threw Mr. Son's body into the garden. She then called her children to inform them that their father had died suddenly and to urgently arrange a funeral.

Upon receiving the news of Mr. Son's death, Nghi Xuan District Police arrived at the scene to conduct an autopsy, confirming that he died from external impact, not sudden death.

Suspecting that the wife's testimony was baseless, the police summoned her to take her statement. After many hours of struggle, Ms. Lien admitted to being the culprit who killed her husband.
