Fun on the sidelines of the Miss Vietnam contest

While "Beauty with a Heart" Thuy Tien had her shoe bag snatched by a monkey, another contestant had her documents and money stolen.

The new beauty queen shares the same name as the "Short Hair" diva - Do My Linh. This reminds us of the year 2014, when Miss Ky Duyen also shared the same name as an overseas MC - Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen. The two beauty queens used to be active in the same club and were schoolmates.

Ky Duyen and My Linh's Foreign Trade University also set a record when it had five contestants in the final round this year, including three beauties in the top 5 and two in the top 3. The beauty representing this school also received subsidiary awards such as: Phung Bao Ngoc Van won the Media Beauty Award and Pham Thuy Tien won the Charity Beauty Award.

During the two rehearsal nights, the representative of Ho Chi Minh City - Huynh Thi Thuy Dung - was drawn to win the 2nd Runner-up prize. This result came true in the final night.

Many unexpected incidents also happened to the contestants in the final round.. On the very first day of gathering, tall contestant Tran Thuy Trang had her bag snatched while crossing the street. She was supported by the organizers with some money to cover the expenses. When visiting Monkey Island (Can Gio), contestant Pham Thuy Tien also had her bag containing flat shoes snatched by a monkey and had to walk the rest of the way in high heels - which were only for taking pictures.

Before the talent show, Huyen Trang, a girl with a 56cm waist, could not find any nail polish for the drawing part. Right before the show, she had to rush out to buy nail polish to replace this material.

Second runner-up Huynh Thi Thuy Dung changed her performance right before the competition time and had to run back to the hotel to change. She took a taxi and was so engrossed in rehearsing the song that she didn't pay attention to where the car was going. When she realized, the driver refused to continue and stopped on the side of the road. Luckily, another car passed by, so she quickly changed cars to get back to the hotel on time. Before the performance, Thuy Dung's guitar string broke. She borrowed another guitar, but that one also broke. Finally, she was able to perform on the third guitar.

Despite many problems, Huynh Thi Thuy Dung's performance was still perfect, helping her win the Talented Beauty award. Previously, the second runner-up almost missed out on Miss Vietnam when her father hid all her documents so that she could not compete.

After two months of living and practicing under one roof, the contestants considered each other as family.

Five days before the final round, the organizing committee secretly held a birthday party for the two beauties Nguyen Thuy Linh and Luc Thi Thu Thao. Thu Thao burst into tears with emotion: "This year I cannot celebrate my birthday with my family, but I am very happy to receive a surprise spiritual gift. All the uncles and aunts in the organizing committee were present." Thu Thao was loved by the contestants for her simplicity and gentle personality.

"Copyright" Nguyen Thi Huyen and Miss Hue Le Tran Ngoc Tran became close sisters when they met at the final round. Bui Nu Kieu Vy recounted: "When Tran had an incident related to going to an international competition without permission, I thought it was not too serious. During the first two days together, Tran was always strong and cheerful. At the end of the day, when she called me to her private room and said she would withdraw from the competition tomorrow morning, I felt very surprised."

Ngoc Tran and Kieu Vy, the two most promising candidates in the first stage of the competition, are close sisters.

Contestants Pham Thuy Tien and Nguyen Huong My Linh often wear matching outfits in activities and go everywhere together. The girl who just graduated from high school, Bao Ngoc, is loved by other contestants because of her mischievous and innocent personality and always brings laughter whenever she appears.

After days of intense training, the contestants split into groups, sat in rows to massage each other’s shoulders, backs and sing. For innocent girls like Bao Ngoc, Miss Vietnam 2016 is more like a summer course with new friends than a harsh competitive arena.
