Pu Mat National Park celebrates 20th anniversary

(Baonghean.vn)- On December 17, Pu Mat National Park celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of a number of provincial and Con Cuong district departments and branches, along with many generations of cadres and employees.

Based on the investigation, survey, and construction of the argument approved by the Appraisal Council, on December 28, 1995, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision to establish Pu Mat Nature Reserve. On December 17, 1996, the launching ceremony was held and the area began operation. The function of Pu Mat Nature Reserve is to preserve the biodiversity of 91,113 hectares of forest and forest land, and to enhance the protective capacity of upstream forests.

Scientific research and international cooperation, education to raise environmental awareness, organizing tourism services, contributing to the sustainable development of the buffer zone economy with local authorities. Due to the importance of preserving the forest ecosystem on the mountains of the North Truong Son region, on November 8, 2001, the Prime Minister issued a Decision to upgrade the Pu Mat Nature Reserve in Nghe An province to Pu Mat National Park.

Many delegates and generations of staff attended the 20th anniversary celebration of Pu Mat National Park.

Over the past 20 years, Pu Mat National Park has achieved remarkable results, being the National Park with the highest coverage in the country (over 80%), the lives of people in the core and buffer zones have been improved, basically ending the exploitation of forest products and hunting of wild animals in the entire forest area. Cooperating with domestic and international units, organizations, schools, and researchers to carry out scientific research programs.

Propaganda and awareness raising on nature conservation and biodiversity are focused on. Pu Mat National Park has become an attractive eco-tourism destination, and has been awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the State and Certificates of Merit by the Government, ministries, branches and the Provincial People's Committee.

On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the leaders of Pu Mat National Park and presented the Banner of the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee to Pu Mat National Park.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Dinh Viet Hong acknowledged and congratulated the achievements of Pu Mat National Park. At the same time, he requested the staff to continuously improve their professional skills and build solidarity to improve the effectiveness of forest management and protection. Actively cooperate in scientific research and application, strengthen coordination and image promotion to exploit tourism potential, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee Chairman to collectives and individuals of Pu Mat National Park.

On this occasion, Pu Mat National Park received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; 4 collectives and 7 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
