The Los Angeles Police Department identified the shooter as Mainak Sarkar, a student majoring in engineering at the school. The other victim killed in the shooting was identified as 39-year-old engineering professor William Klug.

The shooting occurred on the evening of June 1 (Vietnam time) at the University of California campus. The gun was also found at the scene. Security forces were present and locked down the entire school for 2 hours.

This is the second shooting in the US in less than a week, causing public opinion to continue to question the role of authorities in gun control.

Previously, on May 29, a shooting occurred in Houston, Texas, in the southwestern United States, killing at least 2 people and injuring 6 others.

The issue of gun ownership has been a controversial issue in the US for many years due to a series of serious shootings. In response to this reality, the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, has allowed students to carry guns into the classroom.

The decision came after state lawmakers passed a bill in August 2015 allowing guns to be carried at public universities, allowing students to carry handguns into the classroom.

Meanwhile, the US government has taken drastic measures. In early January, President Barack Obama decided to unilaterally address the issue of gun security in the US after hundreds of bloody shootings in the country in 2015, using the President's executive power without going through Congress, issuing a series of regulations on gun control./.
