Building a port cluster in Nghe An for 100,000-ton ships to dock
(Baonghean.vn) - Along with Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port which is being effectively exploited, in Nghe An there are ports invested in and built by cement corporations The Vissai, Tuan Loc, Thien Minh Minh Duc..., creating a port cluster capable of accommodating ships of over 100,000 tons to load and unload goods.

Nghi Thiet specialized port project is invested by The Vissai Group with about 2,200 billion VND, built in Nghi Thiet commune (Nghi Loc). Up to now, the wharf has been basically completed, expected to be put into operation in August 2017. The port is planned to be an international seaport to accommodate 70,000-ton ships, the inland wharf area to accommodate 10,000-ton ships.
Nghi Thiet Port, when put into operation, will transport and consume Cliker and cement products. In addition, consider upgrading the port capacity appropriately to serve the transportation of goods for businesses in the province. The volume of goods in phase 1 (until 2018) is 9 million tons, phase 2 (after 2020) is 15.4 million tons.

At the same time, the investment project to build wharfs No. 5 and No. 6 of Cua Lo port, invested in the form of BOT, is invested by Tuan Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company.
This project includes a 23.4ha logistics area; a 450m long, 40m wide wharf capable of receiving two ships with a capacity of 30,000 tons at the same time. In addition, the wharf's logistics area includes a 9.5ha cargo yard, a 1.1ha container yard, a 3ha CFS warehouse, etc. According to the schedule, this project will be put into use in October 2017.

According to the plan, by 2030, Cua Lo Port Cluster will have about 18 wharves/3569.5m, land use area of 158 ha; by 2040, there will be about 23 wharves/4729.5m, land use area of 252 ha; by 2050, there will be about 32 wharves/6789.5m, land use area of 355 ha. When the upgrade is completed, it will ensure the entry and exit of ships over 100,000 DWT (100,000 tons) and the cargo handling capacity of 65 - 85 million tons. |
Cua Lo deep-water port has also been planned in detail to accommodate 100,000-ton ships entering and leaving when there is a volume of goods when VSIP Industrial Park, Hamaraij, and Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway are in operation.
In the province, there is also a separate wharf 1.5 km long, receiving ships from 20,000 to 30,000 tons to serve the sustainable import and export of goods for the DKC Petroleum Depot, invested by Thien Minh Duc Joint Stock Company.
And Dong Hoi deep-water port (Hoang Mai) has been approved to serve Dong Hoi Industrial Park and the economic zone of the northwestern districts of Nghe An in the future.

The development of ports is associated with the use of land funds, ensuring the most favorable conditions for port operation and exploitation, while creating conditions for the formation of a post-port cargo distribution center (logistics area). That process ensures the most reasonable and favorable connection with infrastructure, especially road, railway and waterway infrastructure.
Nghe An's seaport system is expected to connect with Nghi Son port (Thanh Hoa) to strongly promote economic and social development when the coastal route from Nghi Son to Cua Lo phase I has been planned for construction. At the same time, it is associated with the planning of Nam Cam station and the railway connecting Nam Cam - Cua Lo; connecting to maximize the efficiency of the Hanoi expressway through Thanh Thuy (Thanh Chuong - Nghe An) to Vientiane (Laos)...
Nguyen Son
