Sand truck slides downhill, kills woman

According to the peoplelocalOn the afternoon of April 4, Tran Thi Van and her husband used a tractor to transport sand for a household from the sand and gravel wharf near Lam River to the cemetery area, near Ba Temple on the slope of Nguoc Mountain in Hamlet 3, Ngoc Son Commune.

At 13:00, when Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia (42 years old) was driving a tractor carrying sand up a steep slope to get to thecemetery, Ms. Van was behind holding a wooden stick to block the wheel to support her husband when suddenly the accident happened.

The tractor slid down the hill and overturned, causing Ms. Van to suffer a traumatic brain injury, broken legs, and an arm. Immediately after the accident, the victim was taken to Thanh Chuong District General Hospital by her relatives for emergency treatment and then transferred to the provincial hospital.

Due to the severity of her injuries and worsening condition, Ms. Van was taken home and passed away that night at her home. On the morning of April 5, relatives and neighbors were preparing for her funeral.

It is known that the road to the cemetery near Ba Temple is the road in the middle of the village, small, steep, winding, and has just been renovated by the villagers to go up to the temple.

Van and her husband have 2 children, the youngest is in 2nd grade. Her husband is a carpenter. Her family recently bought a tractor to transport goods and sand for hire.
