Quang Binh traffic police inspected and handled many passenger vehicles that violated traffic laws after Tet.

At the checkpoint in Hung Thuy commune (Le Thuy district), from 8am to 3pm, traffic police discovered 108 passenger vans violating traffic laws such as speeding, carrying more passengers than allowed, not having valid documents, not driving in the correct lane or road section... The total fines imposed on the above passenger vans amounted to more than 200 million VND.

The most common violations were carrying more people than the prescribed number and speeding. Among the vehicles violating the regulations, the vehicle with Nghe An province license plate carried 60 people/43 seats and was traveling at 82km/h, exceeding the prescribed speed, and was fined 18 million VND.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duc Duong, deputy head of the Traffic Police Department of Quang Binh Police, said that this inspection will last until February 21 (the 14th day of the lunar calendar) and will focus on passenger vehicles running on the north-south route, because the vehicles often carry more people than the prescribed number and drive recklessly, which can easily lead to accidents...

According to our observations, in the north, a few kilometers from the checkpoint, there are many local people using motorbikes to increase the fare on the vehicles to take people through the checkpoint.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duc Duong said that the situation of increasing passenger tips has not been resolved yet. “To facilitate drivers and bus companies, we are coordinating with the State Treasury of Quang Binh province to collect fines on the spot. For violations related to vehicle management and carrying more passengers than the prescribed number, we are also coordinating with the provincial Department of Transport to handle them immediately, such as arranging vehicles to transfer passengers, ensuring smooth travel for passengers…” - Mr. Duong said.
