Trial of 'bluebeard' who raped mentally disabled girl chopping wood twice
(Baonghean.vn) - In February 2020, Dau Hong Son raped Ms. G, born in 2002, living in the same neighborhood, twice.
On October 27, 2020, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Dau Hong Son, born in 1963, residing in Tan Dong hamlet, Dong Van commune, for the crime ofrape.
According to the indictment, in February 2020, two times, one week apart, after coming home from drinking, Son saw Ms. G (mentally disabled) chopping firewood in the land next to Mr. Chien's acacia garden, who lived in the same neighborhood.
At the above two times, Son had the desire to have sex with Ms. G so he forced her to have sex.
Because of fear and mental retardation, after the incident happened, Ms. G did not tell anyone about it.
On June 6, 2020, discovering that her daughter's belly was abnormally large, Ms. G's mother took her to An Phat General Hospital (Tan Ky) for examination.
The ultrasound results showed that Ms. G was 16 weeks pregnant but the fetus had died in her womb. Afterwards, Ms. G reported the whole incident of being raped by Dau Hong Son to her family.

After that, Ms. G's family filed a complaint to the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police for investigation and clarification.
Upon receiving a complaint from Ms. G's family, the Tan Ky District Police Department summoned and interviewed Son. However, at first, Son did not admit to his crime.
On June 13, 2020, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police coordinated with the Nghe An Provincial Forensic Center and Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to collect samples from the embryo removed from Ms. G's body, seal and preserve it, and at the same time collect Son's hair sample for DNA testing.
At the conclusion of the appraisalDNAshows that: Ms. G and the fetus have a mother-child blood relationship; Dau Hong Son and the fetus have a father-child blood relationship.
On July 17, 2020, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police coordinated with the North Central Forensic Psychiatric Institute to conduct a psychiatric assessment of Ms. G.
The forensic psychiatric assessment concluded that Ms. G had mild mental retardation, which limited her ability to perceive and control her behavior.
The family of the victim, Ms. G, requested Son to compensate Ms. G for her mental and material losses with a total amount of 150 million VND. However, Son has not yet paid civil compensation to the victim.
At the Investigation Agency, Dau Hong Son confessed to all of his crimes in accordance with the documents and evidence collected in the case file. The panel sentenced Dau Hong Son to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
