Water supply company in Quy Hop admits rusty pipes

After taking water samples from the source, the delegation had a working session with the People's Committee of Quy Hop district and the Water Supply Enterprise of Western urban areas.

The delegation requested the Enterprise to soon replace and upgrade 12km of rusted and damaged galvanized pipes; and to change the input water source to the flow from Nam Son, Bac Son, Chau Ly and Chau Dinh communes - where there is no upstream mineral exploitation.

The enterprise must also have a specific schedule for replacing galvanized pipes so that the authorities of Quy Hop district can inform the people.

The delegation also requested that units regularly and closely monitor the input water source and every month after taking water samples for testing, must send a written document to the authorities to inform the people about water parameters.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Dinh Trong Thang - Director of the Western Urban Water Supply Enterprise admitted that currently in Quy Hop town there are 12,000m of galvanized pipes that have rusted. These are pipes that were constructed in 2001 when Quy Hop Water Supply Station started operating. Due to rust and deterioration, every time there is a power outage or the water pump stops, when it is operated again, it is often red and cloudy.

Immediately after this working session, the Enterprise will have a plan to upgrade and replace about 500 to 600m of galvanized pipes in block 16 and block 2./.
