Village chief mobilizes children far from home to donate nearly 1.5 billion VND to build new rural areas

(Baonghean.vn) - Thanks to the trust, contributions, and volunteer support of the people, Yen Phu hamlet, Van Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district has proactively carried out many welfare construction projects worth billions of dong.

The person who plays a big role in the movement to build a new rural area in Yen Phu hamlet, Van Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district is hamlet chief Phan Van Muu. Mr. Muu confided: There is no secret, the problem is that the people trust me, so everything the hamlet initiates is successful. Before the hamlet wants to implement something, I always proactively ask for the opinion of the Party Committee and discuss with mass organizations.

In early 2016, after he took over as hamlet chief, with the determination to mobilize all people to join hands in building the new rural area, he and the hamlet's new rural area steering committee mobilized people to clear and expand roads in the hamlet, and mobilized resources to build roads.

At the beginning of the year, taking advantage of the time when children working far away returned home to celebrate Tet and welcome spring 2016, with the approval of the Party Committee and the hamlet committee, we organized a spring meeting. After listening to the hamlet's wishes, 100% of the children volunteered to donate money to build the new rural area. At the same time, we mobilized all the people to clear the corridor and widen the inner hamlet roads.

When the hamlet called for help, the children enthusiastically donated money and cement, and households in the area of ​​road clearance were ready to dismantle construction works so that the hamlet could widen the road according to the NTM criteria. Since the beginning of 2016, Yen Phu hamlet has mobilized children to support the NTM construction 4 times, the amount of money donated by children was 1.4 billion VND, 69 tons of cement and local people contributed 300 million VND.

Many successful businessmen donated from 5 to 20 tons of cement. For example, the families of Nguyen Duy Sinh and Nguyen Thi Nhan each donated 20 tons of cement; Nguyen Huu Van, Nguyen Duy Kinh, Nguyen Duy Loc each donated 10 tons of cement...

With that amount of money and cement, Yen Phu hamlet poured concrete on 600m of inter-hamlet roads, built soccer and volleyball fields, made drainage ditches, warehouses, some welcome gates, purchased items for the hamlet's cultural house... In addition, many families and children in the hamlet volunteered to place 42 stone benches in the hamlet's playgrounds.

Village Chief Phan Van Muu added: All revenue and expenditure are reasonable and clear, everything is done by the people, supervised... so people trust, therefore when the village implements anything, people enthusiastically support.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Long - Chairman of Van Thanh Commune People's Committee said: In the movement to build new rural areas, the role of the hamlet chief is very important. Yen Phu hamlet has recently completed many meaningful construction projects thanks to the dynamism of hamlet chief Phan Van Muu. Now the rural appearance of Yen Phu hamlet is spacious, clean and beautiful, people's lives have improved. This is considered a model to promote the internal strength of the people, for hamlets to learn from experience.
