(Baonghean.vn) - From March 23 to April 4, Nghe An Market Management Department conducted food safety and hygiene inspections of establishments and households producing and trading alcohol products in the province.

This is the content to implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 371/CD-TTg, Directive 02/CT-BCT of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Official Dispatch No. 320/QLTT-KSCLHH dated March 13, 2017 of the Market Management Department on strengthening food safety and hygiene management for alcohol products.

Accordingly, from March 23 to April 4, market management teams across the province conducted food safety and hygiene inspections of establishments and households producing and trading alcohol products in the province. As a result, after inspecting 134 cases, 119 cases were handled, with fines of over VND 280 million. The violating goods included 4,286 liters of alcohol of unknown origin.

Regarding the causes, the main violations are trading in wine of unknown origin. Using packaging materials that must be declared to comply with regulations but not having a certificate of receipt of the declaration of conformity. Not declaring the standards applicable to 35º wine products.

The inspection process also revealed shortcomings such as: most households producing handmade wine are small-scale, some households brew wine combined with using by-products for livestock farming to improve income mainly, so they do not pay attention to the quality and food safety of wine products.

In addition, in Nghe An, due to the lack of budget allocation for food safety management, the work of checking, sampling or quickly testing methanol content in alcohol has not been fully implemented.

To rectify the above situation, in the coming time, the Market Management Department requires the Market Management teams to continue to coordinate with functional agencies and local authorities to strengthen the management of the area, organize inspections and strictly control alcohol production facilities, especially small-scale production facilities that brew alcohol using manual methods, wholesale and retail alcohol businesses, restaurants, etc.

At the same time, coordinate with specialized agencies of the health sector, information and communication agencies and local authorities to promote propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations to alcohol production and trading establishments in the area; instruct consumers to only use alcohol products with origin and source according to regulations.
