On April 7, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) continued to hold its 11th emergency session on the situation in Ukraine to consider a draft resolution on suspending Russia's membership in the UN Human Rights Council.

During the discussion, countries expressed concern about the current situation in Ukraine and stressed the need to respect international law.

Many countries, including those that abstained and voted against the resolution, said that in the context of ongoing international investigation mechanisms on the human rights situation in Ukraine, including the investigation mechanism established by the Human Rights Council's decision, proposing and considering this resolution was a hasty action without specific and objective information.

The adoption of the resolution is considered by these countries to have a negative impact on negotiation and dialogue efforts between the parties involved, causing division and reducing credibility of the UN.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam is concerned about the impact of the war in Ukraine on the people and the information about the deaths of many civilians in recent days. Vietnam opposes all acts of attacking civilians, violating international humanitarian law and human rights, and believes that it is necessary to verify and verify recent information in an open, transparent, and objective manner, with the cooperation of relevant parties.

The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam calls on all parties to reduce tensions, cease fire, resume dialogue, and find long-term solutions to disagreements on the basis of taking into account the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved.

The UN and the international community should continue to encourage and facilitate efforts for dialogue and diplomatic negotiations between relevant parties to seek peaceful and comprehensive solutions.
