1,900 students learn about the law through "Mock Trial"

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 24, Hoang Mai Town Youth Union coordinated with the People's Committee, People's Procuracy, and People's Court of Hoang Mai Town to organize a "Mock Trial" to disseminate the law to union members, youth, and students in 2018.

With content related to illegal drug trafficking, the mock trial really attracted nearly 1,900 union members, youths and students in Hoang Mai town with many interesting details.

The "mock trial" began with a realistic skit staged by the students, telling the story of a male student who was naturally good and a good student, but because he wanted to become an "adult", he often skipped school to go to the cafe in front of the school gate to buy cigarettes and was enticed by others to use drugs. Not stopping there, to have money to buy drugs, the male student repeatedly stole money from his parents to spend on "brown fairy".

Despite his friends’ advice, the male student still refused to stop his addiction. After a short time, he also persuaded his classmates to use illegal drugs and was arrested by the police with a package of heroin weighing 1.54 grams.

The “defendant” played by the student was brought before the dock in the school yard by the police, and listened to the prosecution and the judge question him about the illegal drug trafficking. At the end of the trial, the court sentenced the defendant to 2 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking under Clause I, Article 252 of the 2015 Penal Code.

Through the questions of the judge and the lawyer for the defendant, knowledge about the law and the harmful effects of drugs is received by students in an intuitive and easy-to-understand way. "Mock trial" contributes to orienting youth union members and students to understand and comply with the law, practice ethics, and cultivate life skills.
