123 months in prison for 5 subjects forging health certificates
On January 20, the People's Court of Hanoi opened a trial for a group of defendants in a ring specializing in forging health certificates.
The court sentenced 5 defendants: Vu Van De (born in 1991, from Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province) to 36 months in prison; Duong Van Manh (born in 1991, from Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province) to 42 months in prison; Nguyen Thi Thuong (born in 1995, from Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen) to 15 months in prison; Dang Thi Tuyet (born in 1995, from Chuong My district, Hanoi) to 18 months in prison; Dinh Quang Tung (born in 1991, from Van Giang, Hung Yen) to 12 months in prison, suspended, for the same crime of "Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations" as prescribed in Article 267, Clause 2, Point b, Penal Code.
According to the indictment, in early 2015, Vu Van De forged many health examination papers by photocopying from the examination papers of the Central Transport Hospital, then wrote the content, signed the doctors' names in the examination columns, and then sent them to a subject named Tuan (identity currently unknown) to stamp forgery.
De created a Facebook page “High-class lottery” to sell the above fake documents. When customers place an order, they will contact De directly by phone.
The investigation agency determined that Vu Van De sold fake health certificates to many people and illegally profited 15 million VND.
Among De's customers is Duong Van Manh (a student who shares a room with De at Hacinco student village, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi).
Manh also created a Facebook page for health certificates and posted his phone number to sell fake certificates. Manh bought each certificate for 40,000 VND and sold it for 50,000 VND.
Later, discovering that many customers had placed orders, Manh took from De 200 health certificates without the hospital's signature and seal for 8 million VND. Manh sold all of the health certificates.
Seeing that it was easy to make money, Manh found ways to forge other types of documents such as hospital discharge papers, health certificates; color photocopied the fake seal of the Central Transport Hospital onto the above documents and signed himself, forged the doctors' signatures.
Manh sold fake documents for 15,000-80,000 VND each; he personally delivered the fake documents to customers or hired a motorbike taxi to bring them there. By doing this, Manh illegally earned 20 million VND.
Similarly, Nguyen Thi Thuong, Dang Thi Tuyet, and Dinh Quang Tung also used the trick of "buying and reselling" health certificates to make illegal profits.
Around mid-2015, when the above subjects were transacting with customers, they were discovered, arrested and had evidence recovered by the police./.
