1,400 civil servants participate in blood donation in Do Luong

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 11, the Do Luong Red Cross Association coordinated with the Nghe An Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center to organize a humanitarian blood donation festival to overcome the shortage of blood for emergency and treatment purposes that occurs at the end of the year.

With the theme "Giving love, sharing life", the blood donation festival took place enthusiastically, with the participation of 1,400 cadres and civil servants from 53 units, communes, towns and schools.

In 2016, Do Luong district mobilized and received 501 units of blood. The amount of blood collected has contributed to the treatment of many patients; contributing to the protection, care and improvement of people's health. Although the amount of blood received in recent years has increased, it only meets 70% of the need for emergency and treatment.

The shortage of blood for emergency and general treatment, especially for blood types O and B, still occurs in provincial hospitals, especially during Tet and summer every year.
