16 years in prison for young man who paid off debt with...drugs!
(Baonghean.vn) - Having no money to pay Trung Anh, Dai (living in Anh Son district, Nghe An) gave him 3 packages of drugs to pay off his debt. 4 months later, he found a customer and was caught while on his way to deliver the goods.
On July 13, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Le Van Dai (born 1978), residing in Hoi Son commune (Anh Son) and Nguyen Trung Anh (born 1992), residing in Anh Son town, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the indictment, on January 7, 2020, Anh Son District Police arrested Le Van Dai and Nguyen Trung Anh while they were driving to deliver two packages of pink phien (weighing nearly 40 grams) to customers.

During an emergency search of Le Van Dai’s house, the police seized 13 grams of methamphetamine. At Trung Anh’s house, the police discovered and seized 3 packages of methamphetamine weighing more than 60 grams.
Trung Anh confessed that in June 2019, he lent Dai 15 million VND. Trung Anh repeatedly asked for the debt but Dai delayed. In September 2019, Dai promised to give Trung Anh 3 packages of drugs to pay off the debt. Trung Anh agreed to receive the drugs and hide them at home, waiting to find a customer to sell them. However, 4 months later, this young man still could not "disperse" the drugs to recover the debt.
At the trial, both defendants confessed honestly, repented and hoped to receive leniency from the law.
Considering the role and position of each defendant in the case, the People's Court sentenced Le Van Dai to 20 years in prison and Nguyen Trung Anh to 16 years in prison.
