17 Government members run for National Assembly deputies
Among the 197 candidates for National Assembly deputies in the Central region are the Prime Minister, 3 Deputy Prime Ministers and 13 ministers.
On the morning of April 14, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front approved a list of 197 candidates for National Assembly deputies from central agencies. The National Assembly bloc has the largest number of candidates with 113 candidates, followed by the Fatherland Front and mass organizations bloc with 31, the Government bloc with 17, and the Military bloc with 15.
In the Government bloc, in addition to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, there are 3 Deputy Prime Ministers.Truong Hoa Binh, Vuong Dinh Hue and Pham Binh Minh, as well as Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University Phan Thanh Binh.
According to the arrangement of the Election Council, the Minister of Public Security and the Minister of National Defense are not part of the Government but belong to the Ministry of Public Security and National Defense.

Previously, in the 13th term (2011-2016), the Government had 17 members participating in the National Assembly, in addition to the Prime Minister, there were 4 Deputy Prime Ministers and 12 ministers.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said that all 197 candidates had their opinions taken by voters at their places of residence and work, and most of them had 100% confidence. There were five cases of complaints from voters, of which one was determined to have an unfounded complaint, and the rest are under review.
According to the election process, before April 27, the National Election Council will announce the list of candidates and from May 2 to May 21, candidates can campaign at voters' conferences or on mass media. On May 22, voters nationwide will go to the polls to choose 500 deputies to the 14th National Assembly.
