2 death sentences for drug traffickers

(Baonghean.vn)- Using sophisticated tricks, four subjects colluded to buy, sell, store and transport drugs and were sentenced to two death sentences, one to 15 years and one to 3 years and 6 months in prison.

On June 14, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a trial for the case of illegal drug trafficking, storage and transportation involving four defendants: Nguyen The Ha (born in 1963), Le Doan Chinh (born in 1985), residing in Vo Liet, Thanh Chuong; Duong Thi Be Lan (born in 1985) - Kinh's wife; Nguyen Ngoc Thuc (born in 1972) in Hong Linh town, Ha Tinh.

According to the indictment of the Procuracy: From September 2013 to November 30, 2013, Nguyen The Ha sold drugs to Tran Van Giang 4 times, including more than 7kg of crystal meth and 10 heroin cakes weighing 3.422kg with a total amount of more than 200,000 USD.

In 4 transactions, Tran Van Giang hired Le Doan Chinh to receive the goods and transport them to Ho Chi Minh City to sell for a profit of 15 million VND each time. Chinh directly received the goods and after selling, took the money and delivered it to Tran Van Giang.

Around November 2013, while receiving the goods and on the way to transport them for sale, Kinh was discovered by detectives. With the help of his wife, Duong Thi Be Lan, Chinh took the drugs to Hong Linh town to escape. Arriving at Nguyen Ngoc Thuc's house, Chinh and Lan left the drugs and rode their motorbikes back to Thanh Chuong.

Knowing that Chinh and his wife had brought a backpack when entering, but did not bring it out when leaving, Thuc found the drugs and hid them at Mr. Tran Van Dinh's house. While looking for an opportunity to sell them, the Nghe An police task force seized 3 white plastic bags containing 3.4224 kg of heroin and 1.9733 kg of crystal meth.

After the arrest of Le Doan Chinh and Duong Thi Be Lan, on December 5, 2013, Tran Van Giang was arrested and on December 11, 2013, Nguyen The Ha's house was arrested and searched, confiscating 1.19 grams of heroin and 2.85 grams of crystal meth.

When arrested by the Nghe An Provincial Police Department to take his statement, knowing that his actions could not avoid legal punishment, Tran Van Giang hanged himself at the detention camp.

With their criminal acts, before the trial, the defendants bowed their heads and admitted their guilt. The criminal acts of the defendants are especially serious and affect the security and order in the area, causing danger to society, and need to be strictly tried before the law.

Considering the seriousness of the crimes committed by the defendants, the court sentenced defendant Nguyen The Ha to death for illegal drug trafficking and 2 years in prison for illegal possession of synthetic drugs, the highest penalty being death; defendant Le Doan Chinh to death; defendant Nguyen Ngoc Thuc to 15 years in prison; defendant Duong Thi Be Lan to 3 years and 6 months in prison. The amount of 1,000 USD, 2 motorbikes, 4 phones and 30 million VND were confiscated and all evidence of crystal meth and heroin seized from Nguyen The Ha and Nguyen Ngoc Thuc was destroyed.
